It’s been a long time since the first edition of the India Premier League started in 2008, but the wait is finally over — the Women’s Premier League is here. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to start the massive T20 franchise cricket league for female players.
Even before the inaugural tournament began, the WPL had already become the second most expensive cricket tournament, only behind the IPL.
If you want to join in on the fun through WPL online betting, you’re in the right place. We’ll discuss the league itself and how it works, its teams, and the rules. More importantly, we’ll cover some wagering predictions, how to start placing bets on WPL matches, and the top WPL betting apps on the Indian market.
Read on to learn everything you need about the league and how to start placing your first bets.
If you are ready to begin placing wagers on the WPL, you’ll need a betting site. Thankfully, we’ve done the research for you and found the top betting sites that will likely feature every WPL season moving forward.
During our search for the leading online sportsbooks, we had to look into various criteria and analyse every site in detail. Here’s a sneak peek of what we’ve found while making our list of the leading sportsbooks for WPL betting from India:
- Licensing and safety — The sportsbook needs to have a proper licence. Although it won’t have one from India, it should possess one from internationally recognised regulators like the Malta Gaming Authority and UK Gambling Commission. This guarantees the book’s legitimacy and the safety of punters’ data and funds.
- Reputation — We always dig deep and check the site’s online reputation. We need to ensure the sportsbook maintains a high level of reliability, like 10CRIC and Parimatch.
- WPL betting odds — The odds determine how much you’ll earn, and even though they are pretty similar across the board, some sites offer slightly higher odds. For instance, Betway is known for having some of the most competitive cricket betting odds.
- Diversity of betting markets — Every betting site featured on our list must offer a wide range of cricket betting markets on WPL. Expect a diverse selection for every league’s match at the sportsbooks we recommend.
- Payment system — The entire system surrounding payments needs to be robust. There should be plenty of Indian payment methods allowing rupees, like UPI, Net Banking, IMPS, and others. Moreover, we ensure the fees are minimal or nonexistent and that the processing times are fast.
We evaluate many other factors, including bonuses and promotions, customer support, and mobile-friendliness. You should do the same when considering online sports betting platforms.

What Is WPL?
The Women’s Indian Premier League (WPL) is the novel women’s T20 franchise cricket league in India — the female counterpart of the highly successful men’s Indian Premier League. Most people, especially the members of various cricket betting sites in India, have started calling it the WPL.
Women’s cricket has been growing a lot in the last few years, and ever since the expansion of the Women’s T20 Challenge in 2018, the idea of a new major franchise league for women has been floating around. The BCCI finally announced the WPL in October 2022 and set an approximate date for the start of the first season — late February or early March 2023.
The initial competition will feature five teams, but none have been revealed, except the companies that have purchased the franchises. However, the league format is familiar and follows the one the IPL currently uses, so you’ll have plenty of women IPL betting opportunities.
Viacom 18 purchased the global media rights for ₹951 crore and will broadcast the competition for five years, starting in 2023. You can watch it on Sports18 and the JioCinema app.
What Are the WPL Rules?
As stated, the league format will follow the IPL one. This means the teams will compete in a double round-robin format.
Each team will play the other twice, and the highest-ranked franchises in the group or league stage will advance to the playoffs. The second and final stage will feature a series of knockout matches and the finals, where we’ll meet the first WPL champion.
This means that WPL betting online should work the same as IPL wagering. The only difference is that you’ll have fewer opportunities as the inaugural WPL season will have only five teams, in contrast to IPL’s ten. However, that number is set to rise as long as the first season is successful.

Here’s an overview of the companies that purchased the rights to the teams in 2025 and the cities that will act as hosts:
The BCCI bagged a total of ₹4,669.99 crore through the bidding process — the total amount of all five highest bids placed in a closed process where as many as 16 entities participated.
In comparison, the BCCI fetched ₹2,894.36 crore in 2008 for the initial men’s IPL teams.
This makes the WPL the second-highest valued cricket league on the planet, right after the IPL, based on its current valuation and calculations made by Jay Shah, the honorary secretary of the BCCI and the president of the Asian Cricket Council.
Outside of the franchise rights holders, little is known about WPL teams and their players. However, it’s worth mentioning that a few companies already own some of the IPL teams.
The JSW and GMR groups own the Delhi Capitals, Indiawin Sports (or the company’s founder Mukesh Ambani) operates the Mumbai Indians, and United Spirits manages the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The three entities have purchased the rights for WPL franchises in the same cities, so the women’s teams may bear the exact names of their men’s counterparts.
As stated before, the most time-consuming part about WPL betting is the research you need to do to make better predictions. However, we wanted to help you out with our own analysis.
We have a whole team of betting experts and enthusiasts that can spend hours studying the players’ results, teams’ performances and stats, and much more. That helps us make predictions on specific betting markets, most commonly on who’ll win a particular match and who will be the top bowler or batter.
We pool all the insights we gain into various WPL tips and predictions that can help you make better wagers and win more money. Feel free to look through them below, and remember that the forecast list will change over time as new matches approach. Expect fewer predictions with the early matches as this tournament is entirely new, so we have no prior information to go on.
